Hugh McDermott MP is the State Member for Prospect, Parliament of NSW.

Chair, State Parliamentary Labor Party Legal Affairs Committee; Member of the Joint Parliamentary Committee on the Ombudsman, Law Enforcement Conduct Commission and the Crime Commission; Chair, NSW Opposition Disaster Readiness and Response Taskforce. Proud Member of the RFS Horsley Park Brigade.

Prior to his election to Parliament, Hugh worked as a Barrister and Director of Financial Crime Programs at the Australian Graduate School of Policing & Security, Charles Sturt University.

His community involvement includes holding the positions of President of the Rotary Club of Wetherill Park, Trustee of the Smithfield RSL Sub-Branch (Hugh served 7 years with the Army Reserve), and as Brigade President and volunteer firefighter with the Rural Fire Service, Horsley Park.
