Ways to Donate

Over the years Rotary Club of Sydney has been regularly sponsoring several charitable initiatives locally and internationally. Here’s your chance to help some of the current projects! Thank you, your contribution will be tax deductible (except for donations to the Winter Appeal).

Regular or periodic donations can be arranged through our treasurer:

Over recent years our Benevolent Fund has benefited from bequests arising from directions in Wills. These capital receipts from time to time have greatly enhanced the capability of the Rotary Club of Sydney to fund its annual projects by using income derived from the investment of the capital. We encourage you to speak to your lawyer about the inclusion of a bequest to the Rotary Club of Sydney Benevolent Fund for its general purposes in your Will. Your bequest will provide ongoing benefits to worthwhile charities that are being supported by our Rotary Club.

Please contact the President or Treasurer at: office@sydneyrotary.com

The leading Tongan journalist, Kalafi Moala, says the people have spoken and they’ve voted for change.
Tongans went to the polls on November 18 and elected an all-male government, and now the race to become the kingdom’s next prime minister is down to two candidates.

And as New Zealand prepares to send another 50 peacekeepers to Solomon Islands this weekend to help maintain the peace in the capital Honiara, former New Zealand Prime Minister, Helen Clark, offers her thoughts on the situation, as compared to when she was involved in setting up RAMSI, the regional assistance mission in 2003.

Tax Deductible Gifts

The Rotary Club of Sydney Inc. funds specific charitable projects each year. Fundraising targets are established and the Club arranges fundraising events, as well as seeking donations, to achieve the fundraising objectives.

Details of current charitable projects and recent past projects are detailed in this website. Click the “What we do, ” tab and pull down menus for more information.
The Rotary Club of Sydney Benevolent Fund was established over 30 years ago to facilitate donors receiving an income tax deduction for donations to the Rotary Club of Sydney. It is a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) for Australian income tax purposes, which enables donors who are Australian residents and Australian companies to claim an income tax deduction for donations paid to the Fund. Benevolent Fund supports various projects listed on our website.

Every dollar donated to the Benevolent Fund is used to fund charitable projects of the Rotary Club of Sydney. This year our Centenary project is Rotary Give Every Child A Future. There are no fees or expenses deducted from your donation (except credit card charges), so charities receive the full benefit of moneys paid to the Benevolent Fund by donors. Ensure that the button steers towards give child a future.

The Rotary Foundation (RF) – Australia and the World

During the past 100 years, the Rotary Foundation (RF) has spent over $3 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects at home and abroad.

Rotary focuses its efforts in six critical areas:

  • Peace and conflict prevention/resolution
  • Disease prevention and treatment
  • Water and sanitation
  • Maternal and child health
  • Basic education and literacy
  • Economic and community development

With your help, lives can become better in your community and around the world. More than 90 percent of donations go directly to supporting service projects around the world.

35,000 clubs carry out sustainable service projects that support the above six areas of focus. With donations like yours, RF wiped out 99.9 percent of all polio cases. Your donation also trains future peacemakers, supports clean water, and strengthens local economies.

It can save a life. A child can be protected from polio with as little as 60 cents. For every $1 Rotary commits to polio eradication, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation commits $2.

What impact can one donation have?

Polio
Rotary is a leading partner in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative. With help from our partners, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the World Health Organization, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and UNICEF, we’ve made the world 99.9 percent polio-free.
