Some updates on Centenary events

We have a  special guest for   May 1 ,  The Honourable Justice Margaret Beazley QC AO, Governor of NSW. As you are aware the Governor-General is joining us on the 17 May.  It  is important to understand Vice-Regal attendance at both these events is a recognition of the very high regard in which the community holds Rotary and a desire to recognise its 100 years of service and commitment to the future

The 3rd event of to Celebrate the Guriwal Trail as part 100 years of Rotary in Australia is planned for Friday 28 May starting at 11 am:

  • A revitalised trail and public artworks programme, a joint venture between Centennial Parklands, The City of Sydney Council and The Rotary Club of Sydney, that is educational and inspirational, linking the site to its traditional owners.
  • Tours of the trail by the Parkland’s volunteer manager and education team. A chance to “get your hands dirty” if you wish, with some trail maintenance. Also to enjoy drinks, nibbles and fellowship with the club’s Past Presidents.
  • Rotary has a long association with Centennial Parklands. In 1948 President of the Rotary Club of Sydney Les Rigby planted a Firewheel (Stenocarpus sinuatus) in Frog Hollow. Since then a total of 18 trees have been planted by Rotarians, and in 2015 a plaque was unveiled recognizing the planting of these trees over time.
  • You can book Celebrate the Guriwal Trail as part of the Centenary Package; tickets for this event only will be available in mid-May but for now book the package or hold the date.

The new link includes all the booking options including the options of booking a single event or a block of 6 tickets to either 1 May or 17 May events. If more than 6 members of the RCM are attending either event we can arrange an EFT payment (at least avoiding the booking fees).
