26 June Friday

Hon. Tanya Plibersek MP, Shadow Minister for Education & Training, IPDG Sue Hayward, Chair, District 9675, Polio Plus

26 June 2020, 18:00 - 26 June 2020, 19:00

Tanya grew up in the Sutherland Shire of Sydney, the daughter of migrants from Slovenia.

Tanya studied Communications at UTS in Sydney. After graduating she worked in the Domestic Violence Unit of the NSW Government while she studied for a Master of Politics and Public Policy at Macquarie University.  Elected as the MP for Sydney in 1998, Tanya has tirelessly worked together with people in her local community to push for positive change.

Sir Clem Renouf, who was a past RI President (& a great Australian), was responsible for starting the fight against polio over 30 years ago.

This is Rotary’s flagship project and will continue until our goal of eradicating this terrible disease is reached.  Changing global circumstances, however, are creating huge barriers in our fight against this disease.  IPDG Sue Hayward is the Polio Chair for our District and will join us to provide a background briefing on our efforts and progress, and an update on the current situation
