@ Castlereagh Boutique Hotel, Level 4.
A 15-minute Anzac Day Tribute on Tuesday the 20th of April 2021 towards the beginning of the meeting. This will be an opportunity to pay our respects to our veterans and we will be fortunate to have contributors from the Salvation Army and Together for Humanity. It is also the Centenary year of the Australian Airforce and we are honoured to have Uncle Harry Allie, Indigenous Elder and Airforce third generation Veteran speak at the tribute! The Anzac Day tribute will also be attended by veterans and the Soldier On team, our President’s Project partner 2018-19.
This hybrid luncheon will start at 12 noon with an ANZAC Day Tribute featuring Uncle Harry Allie who was born and grew up in the Charters Towers/Townsville area and a descendant of the Kudjula Tribal group. Harry was inspired to join the Australian Defence Forces by his uncles and an aunt who served in the services during WWII. He enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force in 1966 at Townsville North Queensland and served for 23 years at a number of units throughout Australia, the US, and Malaysia.
Sydney Rotary Club’s luncheon on Tuesday 20th April will celebrate Youth Week with the Founders of Stand Tall. The guest speakers will be Jeanine Treharne CEO & Co-Founder and Angela Farr-Jones Associate CEO and Co-Founder of Stand Tall.
Stand Tall was founded in 2012 in response to the tragic level of drug use, depression, bullying, hopelessness and self-harm among high school students. They had the vision to provide an event that would engage young people by providing a message of hope and inspiration, presenting it in an exciting, rock concert environment through the real stories of successful, young pop-culture role models who had experienced these things.
YES, Rotary/PCYC Youth Encouragement Scholarship award winners will be announced during the luncheon.
