The Rotary Club of Sydney Rural Community Support Programme

The Rotary Club of Sydney Rural Community Support Programme was established in 2014. To date as part of the programme the Club has supported Burrumbuttock Hay Runners , Soils for Life Western Division Resilient Landscapes Project , Australian Rotary Health Mental Health First Aid Courses, and Bourke High School students’ excursion to Japan.

Money is raised and spent with our partner organisations. Our major partner is Burrumbuttock Hay Runners. Together we have marshaled donations from 2GB listeners, Rotary Clubs, other organisations and members of the public. These donations have paid for fuel to move donated hay, worth in excess of $100 million, to feed drought affected livestock in western NSW and Queensland. The club has continued to work closely with Brendan Farrell, whose on air call to radio announcer Steve Price at 2GB in early 2014, started this public appeal. The next Hay Run is being planned. Your donation, large or small, would help.

The best way to make a donation is by EFT to our designated Drought Appeal bank account:

Account: Rotary Club of Sydney.
Bank: CBA,
BSB: 062 438, Account No: 10211156.
We can also take donations by cheque to:
Rotary Club of Sydney Drought Appeal
GPO Box 1523 Sydney 2001.

All donated money is used to support rural communities, most of the administration is done by volunteer club members and any costs are covered by club members not by donations. To reduce costs The Rotary Club of Sydney only provides receipts for donations to this appeal upon request as the Rotary Drought Appeal Account does not have Deductible Gift Recipient status. The Australian Taxation Office or your accountant will be able to advise if you can claim a taxation deduction on other grounds.
