Congratulations to Molly Wallace, from Dungog, NSW, who recently graduated with a Master of Science from The University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) for her research into fire management in the Australian landscape.

 
Molly, a Rotary Soukup Scholarship recipient will continue her vital research as she undertakes a PhD. She thanked Rotary Sydney and Gillean Wilbow, who manages the Soukup Scholarships saying the support she received during her undergraduate degree helped launch her academic work.
Professor Bradley Moggridge, a Murri man from the Kamilaroi Nation and a global expert in indigenous water science gave the Occasional Address at the graduation ceremony and publicly acknowledged Molly’s commitment as a scientist and an Indigenous scholar for her study of comparative shoot flammability of tree species in the Barrington Tops Region.
 
Ms Wilbow said Molly along with other Indigenous Rotary Soukup Scholarships holders demonstrate how “education changes the lives of individuals, communities, and the nation. The Soukup scholarships are contributing to a fairer and a more prosperous Australia.”
 
The Rotary Club of Sydney’s Soukup Memorial Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students at The University of Sydney and The University of Technology, Sydney.
 
Twenty-five Indigenous students have received support via the Rotary Soukup Scholarship. The Scholarships were established in 2013.
