Shane is an Advocate for Aboriginal rights and a respected member of the Redfern Aboriginal Community.  Shane helped to found the Aboriginal community organization called Tribal Warrior in 1998. He was Australian of the Year, 2013. Born and raised in Redfern, he has cultural connections to the Bunjalung, Wonnarua, and Bidjigal peoples.
