Joan Salter Fund

Joan Salter Fund

The late Joan Salter was a longstanding member of Rotary Club of Sydney who succumbed to Cancer in her early 40s. She generously left a bequest for our club supported by Servcorp which funds three year projects focuses on young people to solve a relevant problem or improve outcomes for health and well being. The project chosen is required to have measurable outcomes and is reported on annually. Recipient organisations have to deliver a project within the greater Sydney catchment such as the latest recipient Kids Xpress.

Joan Salter Award to KidsXpress

On 21st February was the presentation of the 2017 Joan Salter Award to fund for a 3-year term of a major research project that ends in 2020.

KidsXpress is an expressive therapy program for children impacted by trauma and was established in 2005 by Margo Ward.

The program currently works in partnership across Sydney, supporting 500 children per year and employing some of the best expressive therapists in Australia resulting in profound family and community impact.

KidsXpress Founder, Margo Ward and GM of Program & Impact, Dr Ben Rockett took Rotarians and guests on a journey of establishing this world first organisation and the rigour embedded to prove its expertise.
