The Peace Prize jury selected the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement from a field of strong and worthy candidates, recognising the impact and great significance of the humanitarian network of 16 million volunteers and staff spanning more than 191 countries. The prize will be awarded for “saving lives and preventing the suffering of people affected by armed conflict, for its advocacy for peace, and for its commitment to International Humanitarian Law”.

Mr Felix Eldridge joined the Sydney Peace Foundation Council in 2021. He has experience as an adviser across sectors and continents, working with leaders in state and federal government, not-for-profits, at the United Nations, and Australian and international corporates. With 15 years’ experience in high-profile, politically-challenging environments, his expertise includes strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, and reputational risk management, with a focus on how targeted and effective communications can create trust and support core organisational strategy.
Mr Mohamed Duar is a fundraiser, campaigner and government relations advisor with over 20 years experience. He is currently the philanthropy lead and spokesperson at Amnesty International Australia. His human rights background includes working the Asylum Seekers’ Centre, GetUp! and Grata Fund. Mohamed secured funding for the ASC to establish a Crisis Accommodation Centre for newly arrived Refugees as well as contributed to the Doctors4Refugees High Court Case. Most recently he executed a multinational campaign with Amnesty Australia, UK and USA that led to the successful UN Security Council vote on 23 December 2023.
