DESCRIPTION:Justice Brian Preston has been fighting for the environment for
years. In 1985 he was co-founder and principal solicitor of the Environme
ntal Defenders Office of NSW. In 2005 he was appointed Chief Judge of the
NSW Land and Environment Court. He says\, If you have a degraded environme
nt\, you’re impoverished. The battle to protect the environment from man
-made climate change is being fought on many fronts. In recent years clima
te litigation has come to the fore around the world as a way of forcing go
vernments and industry to act. In a recent case Justice Preston found that
the NSW Environment Protection Authority had a legal duty to develop envi
ronmental quality objectives\, guidelines and policies to ensure environme
nt protection from climate change.  Can inaction on climate be considered
a breach of human rights? Join us as we learn about Justice Preston’s p
ersonal journey to protect the environment\, recent legal developments\, a
nd how important it is for all of us to cultivate climate consciousness. R
